Move, filter and search cards

Move a card​

Drag a card up or down its list, or onto another list. You need the Editor role on the board.

In an open card, you can also click the list name under List and pick another list on the same board.

To move a card to another board:

  1. Open the card.
  2. Click More actions.
  3. Click Move Card.
  4. Choose the Project, the Board and the List.
  5. Click Move.

Only boards where you're an editor appear. The card keeps its labels. People who aren't members of the new board are taken off the card.

Copy, cut and paste​

  1. Point at a card and click its pencil.
  2. At the bottom of Card Actions, click Copy or Cut. In a shorter menu, these are called Copy Card and Cut Card.
  3. Go to the list where you want the card, on this board or another one.
  4. Click the paste button next to Add card at the bottom of that list.

A copy is a new card, and the original stays where it was. Cutting moves the original. For a quick copy in the same list, choose Duplicate Card instead.

Filter the board​

The bar above the board has two filters:

  • Click Members: to pick people. Planka then shows only the cards they're members of or have a task on. To see just your own cards, click the target button next to Members:.
  • Click Labels: to pick labels. Planka then shows only the cards with at least one of them.

The people and labels you pick appear in the bar. Click one to take it out of the filter.

You can also click a person's picture in the bar and choose Show cards with this user.

Filters only change what you see. Everyone else's view stays the same.

Type in Search cards... to find cards by their title or description. Planka shows the cards that contain every word you typed, in capitals or not. Press Esc to clear the search.

To find a project, use Search projects... on the home page.

Change the view​

The three icon buttons at the top right of the board switch between views. From left to right:

  • Kanban: the lists side by side.
  • Grid: every card on the board as tiles.
  • List: every card on the board, one under another.

In Grid and List, each card shows the name of its list.

Your choice isn't saved. Each time you open Planka, the board starts in its default view, which a manager sets in the board settings. See Projects and boards.
