Troubleshooting
Notifications don't arrive
- On the device that should get them, go to Settings → Notifications.
- Check that This device says “On. Reminders will show up here.”
- Select Send a test.
- If nothing arrives, select Turn off here.
- Select Turn on notifications.
- Allow notifications when your device asks.
Also check these:
- On iPhone, use Today from your Home Screen, not from Safari, and make sure you have iOS 16.4 or later.
- Make sure your device lets Today notify you. On iPhone, look in the iPhone's Settings app under Notifications. On a computer, check that notifications are allowed for your browser, in System Settings on a Mac or in Settings → System on Windows.
- Focus modes and Low Power Mode can hold notifications back.
- If a device is missing from Devices that get notifications, turn notifications on again on that device. Today stops sending to a device that keeps failing.
- Check Settings → General → Time zone. Reminders go off by that time zone.
- You don't get reminders for tasks you've already finished.
If you see “Notifications are blocked for Today”, allow them in your iPhone's Settings or in your browser's site settings, then try again. If Settings says “Notifications aren’t set up on the server yet.”, ask your admin.
There's no Turn on notifications button
On iPhone, you're probably in Safari. Open Today from your Home Screen instead. If you see “This browser can’t receive notifications from Today.”, use the installed app. See Install Today and sign in.
You can't sign in
- If you see “That email and password don't match.”, check both and try again.
- If you've forgotten your password, ask your admin to reset it.
- After a password change, your other devices need the new password.
“You’re offline”
Today needs an internet connection. If you open it without one, you'll see “You’re offline”. Your tasks are safe, and they come back when you reconnect.
If your connection drops while you're using Today, changes can't be saved. You'll see “Couldn't reach the server. Check your connection and try again.” Try the change again once you're back online.
A change from another device doesn't show
Today checks for changes every minute while it's open, and again when you switch back to it. Wait a moment, or switch away and back.
Google Calendar problems
- “Waiting for the Google setup on the server.” Ask your admin.
- “Google stopped accepting Today's access.” Go to Settings → Google Calendar and select Connect again.
- A task isn't on your calendar. Check that Add to Google Calendar is on and the task has a date. If a copy failed, the reason shows under the switch.
Siri says the key doesn't work
The key was revoked or wasn't pasted correctly. Make a new key and paste it into the shortcut. See Add tasks with Siri.
The sidebar is gone
On a computer, Today switches to its iPhone layout when the window is narrow. Make the window wider to get the sidebar back.
