Edit a task
Select any task to open it. On a computer, it opens in a panel on the right. On iPhone, it slides up from the bottom: swipe it down to close it.
Changes save as you make them. There's no Save button.
Name and status
- Select the name at the top to change it. Press
Enterwhen you're done. - Pick a status: To do, In progress, Waiting on or Done. “In progress” and “Waiting on” show as a label on the task in your lists. Done checks the task off.
The chips
The chips under the status hold the task's details.
- Date: pick Today, Tomorrow, This weekend or Next week, or a day in the calendar. On weekends, This weekend reads Next weekend. To add a time, use the time box. Clear removes the date and time, and Done closes the picker. A time without a date makes the task due today.
- The project chip shows the project, or Inbox if there isn't one. Select it, then type to search or pick a project. Pick Inbox to take the task out of its project.
- Priority: High, Medium, Low or No priority. The circle next to the task takes the priority's color.
- Repeat: see Repeating tasks.
- Remind me: see Reminders and snooze.
- Top 3 adds the task to today's Top 3, and then reads In Top 3. Select it again to take the task out.
If you've connected Google Calendar, there's also an Add to Google Calendar switch. See Google Calendar.
Notes
Type anything you like in Notes. Notes save by themselves a moment after you stop typing. Search looks in notes too.
Subtasks
Break a task into steps:
- Select Add a subtask.
- Type the step.
- Press
Enter.
Tick a subtask's box when it's done. Select its text to rename it, or ✕ to remove it. On a computer, ✕ appears when you hover. Your lists show how many subtasks are done, like “2/5”.
Links
- Select Paste a link.
- Paste or type a web address.
- Press
Enter.
Select a link to open it in a new tab. If the address isn't valid, you'll see “That doesn't look like a link.” To remove a link, select ✕ next to it.
At the bottom
The bottom of the task shows the day you added it and, once it's done, the day you finished it. Delete removes the task, and you can undo that right away. See Check off, reschedule or delete.
If you open a task that was deleted on another device, you'll see “This task isn’t here anymore.”
